Vamping up the skincare products.

I decided that I wanted to shake up my skincare routine a little bit and try out some new products. I feel like I know my skin a lot better nowadays and so I cleared out some of the older products I have been using which really don’t suit my particular problem areas and headed down to boots to pick up some new things to try.

Eye makeup remover.
I used to use an oil based remover by Botanics, which removed my makeup really well but I soon started to hate the oily residue it left on my eyes. I really like L’Oreal’s Micellar Water and tried to find something similar specifically for my eyes. Garnier 2 in 1 Express Eye Makeup Remover was the closest thing I could find it promises to remove makeup with ‘no rubbing’ and also claims to protect lashes. I can say that the ‘no greasy feel’ promise is actually true- it feels just like water which is the main reason I bought it. It does do a good job of cleaning away my makeup with minimal effort but I do still have to rub away my mascara! Overall, I’m really pleased with this one 🙂

Face Scrub My skin is really really dry but I also tend to get a lot of blackheads on my nose so a scrub is an essential product to have in my collection. I decided to try and find one that was more hydrating and I definitely came up trumps when. I found this beauty (St Ives Moisturising Olive Scrub). It feels like a moisturiser as well as an exfoliator and a little bit goes a long way. I have used it morning and night for the past 3 days and I can already feel a difference- my skin is smoother, my blackheads reduced and my makeup goes onto my face a lot easier! I hope that if I continue to use it, the benefits will become even more noticeable.

Face Mask. I do love my No Clogs Allowed face mask from Soap&Glory and will continue to use this once a week but I wanted to try a product that might help get rid of those under the skin blemishes that make my makeup look less airbrushed. I went for Super Facialist By Una Brennan and settled with their Tea Flower Pore Purifying Clay Mask. I tried it out the day I purchased it and my first impression is a great one. The mask was easy to apply and again, a little goes a long way. I could feel it working to cleanse my pores without my skin beginning to feel irritated and it smells yummy too. I will probably do a full review on this one when I have used it a few more times and can comment on the long term benefits.

Facial Brush. I have considered buying an electronics beauty brush for my face but when I came across this one by Botanics, I decided to give this a try first. It’s super soft and the handle makes it very easy to use. I also noticed that I now only use half of the Clinique Facial Soap that I normally would because the brush helps it to lather and move around my face a lot easier. It’s easy to keep clean and I plan to use it once a day to keep my skin looking fresh and smooth.

Overall, I’m really pleased with my new purchases and I am sure they will transform my skincare routine. For the past 3 days my skin has felt soft and the blackheads on my nose have visibly reduced although I haven’t managed to pinpoint exactly which new product is responsible for that – maybe a combination of them all. Either way, I am happy with the results and look forward to commenting again after using them for a longer period of time!
